Middle Ages Feast

Posted 14/1/2022

We had a castle full of jesters, knights, ladies and squires on the day of our Medieval Feast.  Decorations included a crest for each family and costumes made by students.  The entertainment included sword-swallowing,

a re-telling of the tale of the Green Knight, jokes, juggling, music and a knighting ceremony.  The meal only included ingredients that could have been typical for the time: no tomatoes, no pasta,  no potatoes, very limited spices.  But we made fresh bread and homemade butter.  We also had our guests use quills and walnut ink (homemade) to sign the registry.  After dinner we had games of chess and backgammon, two games popular at the time.
